Whole language and the art of “making meaning”

Thank you, Erica. This essay makes it clear that whole language reading instruction is the poisonous fruit of French postmodern philosophy. You have your meaning and I have my meaning and who are you to tell me I’m wrong. Yet another tool to facilitate the fracturing of society, which is the postmodernists’ goal.
Oh, boy. I hope the Goodman approach is not very widespread.
as far as I am concerned whole language approach is and has been a scientific approach and all that’s happening in the world is just a simple push-back from the people and scholars who have some interests in the status quote and don’t want things in the natural way and are looking for ways to maintain the status quote , no matter how and in what ways , they are just trying to make it seem useless and ineffective . if you are a teacher , like I am , and have observed children you’ll get to understand Ken’s concepts and ideas , the only thing you all need is only to read his works without any prejudice , have you read his latest book : Reading- The Grand Illusion: How and Why People Make Sense of Print 1st Edition , or what’s whole in whole language in the 21st century if not , please do .
